DLC Quest

This satirical game answers the question: what happens when DLC (DownLoadable Content) goes too far?

The game starts with your character only able to go right with no sound, no animation … and even no pause mode!  To get these things, you have to purchase DLC.  Luckily (?) you use in-game coins to do this.

The game is a simplistic hybrid of platformer and adventure with graphics and sound that hark back to the 8-bit era.  This really is perfect for this type of game.

Beyond the DLC concept, which you have to keep purchasing to continue, there are all kinds of jokes and digs at the expense of various game tropes, which keeps things amusing.

And for those who love collection there are various “Awardments” for you to earn.

The only real problem I have with this game is that it’s so short.  It’s perhaps ironic that I’m hoping for some real DLC to expand it.  Though having said that, I’m not sure how much further the joke can be taken and still make it interesting.

Still, for $1.99, I did have a lot of fun, and even a few laughs.
