Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 – Charging Weirdness

I recently bought myself a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, or the Galaxy Note 2.  I’ve yet to write about it, but I’ve been very happy with it as it does everything I need of a tablet.

Recently, however, it’s had some issues with charging.  Ever since I bought it I’ve used the USB to Samsung 30 pin connector to charge it.  I run the USB off a powered USB hub that has two ‘high current’ USB sockets.  So far, it’s been happy.

The last few days, however, when you plug it in the PC sees it as a USB device, but a big red cross appears over the battery icon on the tablet itself and charging fails to happen.

A reboot appeared put it right, but a short time later the cross reappeared.  After a bit of Googling, I have not much else. The few people reporting this appear to be saying this started after the JellyBean update, which i got recently.  A suggestion by one person to just charge with the tablet off so that the tablet isn’t sucking juice while it’s charging, actually seems to be the way to go.

It’s a bit annoying and I’m still looking for a permanent fix, but at least I can charge the Note now!
