Why Am I Still Playing?

Occasionally I read a book, watch a movie or play a game that I keep reading/watching/playing despite not really knowing if I’m enjoying it or not.  Clearly I don’t dislike it too much, but I’m at a loss as to why I keep going.  Perhaps there’s a seed of … something in there that I’m hoping will bloom into something that satisfies.  That’s just a guess, though, and I really don’t have a clue.

I really wanted to like Dragon Age: Origins (DA:O), as it seemed to have a reasonable story and a greath depth of background, and apart from the (to me) button mashing combat, it appeared to be my kind of game.  However, somewhere along the line I stopped playing, and just couldn’t be bothered going back.

I seem to be in the same position with DA2.  I keep playing, but I’m not totally sure why.  Despite the story, despite the wonderful world they’ve built, it’s not completely hooking me.

I’m also wondering, with Lego Star Wars III being released this week, if I’ll put down DA2 and never return to it.  So you should probably take that into account with any further comments I make on DA2.
